Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 1, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Epic8 Digital (“we,” “us,” “our”), operator of protectmydigital.com (the “Site”), collects, uses, shares, and safeguards information from visitors in Canada. It reflects the principles of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and relevant provincial laws. When you navigate to a third-party site (e.g., TOTAL AdBlock), that party’s terms and privacy policy govern your interactions there.

What data we collect

Information you provide: Your name, email address, and message content if you contact us or subscribe to updates.

Technical and usage data: IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, operating system, pages viewed, timestamps, referring/exit URLs, and interactions with links and buttons.

Cookies, pixels, tags, and similar technologies: Session IDs, preference cookies, analytics identifiers (e.g., Google Analytics/Tag), advertising and content-discovery pixels (e.g., Outbrain/Taboola), and affiliate identifiers used to attribute referrals and prevent fraud.

How we use data

To operate and secure the Site; respond to inquiries; measure traffic and performance; attribute affiliate referrals and detect fraud; personalize or limit content and ads where applicable; comply with legal obligations; and develop aggregate insights to improve user experience.

Legal basis for processing (PIPEDA)

We rely primarily on consent—express or implied—as appropriate, including for setting non-essential cookies/pixels (analytics, remarketing, affiliate attribution). We also process information without consent where permitted or required by law (e.g., security, fraud prevention, legal compliance). You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.

We and our partners use cookies/pixels to recognize your device, remember preferences, analyze engagement, attribute affiliate activity, and—where enabled—support remarketing. You can manage cookies in your browser settings and, where provided, through our cookie preferences link/banner. Additional opt-out tools are available via AdChoices Canada at youradchoices.ca/en/tools and Google Analytics Opt-Out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. If your browser sends a recognized Global Privacy Control signal, we will treat it as an opt-out for targeted advertising where legally required.

Affiliate links and attribution

Some links on our pages are affiliate links. When clicked, affiliate partners may set/read cookies or use other identifiers to attribute visits or purchases so we can earn commission on qualifying actions. Partners receive only the technical data necessary for attribution, reporting, and fraud prevention.

Tracking scripts used

We may use Google Analytics/Tag (measurement), Meta Pixel (if remarketing is enabled), Outbrain/Taboola pixels (content discovery/advertising measurement), and affiliate network tags. The specific partners we use can change over time; each partner operates under its own privacy policy.

When we share information

With service providers and processors (hosting, security, analytics, measurement, affiliate tracking); with advertising/content-discovery partners (to measure/optimize campaigns); in connection with a business transaction; and as required by law. We do not sell personal information for money. Where an advertising partner’s use of identifiers could be viewed as “sharing,” we seek consent via the banner/preferences tools described above.

Cross-border transfers

We may store or process information outside your province and outside Canada (e.g., in the United States). While abroad, information may be subject to foreign laws and accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement, and regulators. We take reasonable steps to protect information transferred to service providers.

Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes set out here or as required by law. Typical retention for analytics and affiliate attribution data is up to 13 months, unless a longer period is needed for audits, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. When no longer needed, information is securely deleted, de-identified, or aggregated.

Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information (e.g., access controls, encryption in transit where feasible). No method of transmission or storage is fully secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights (Canada)

You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal information in our custody or control, to withdraw consent (subject to legal/contractual restrictions), and to ask questions about our privacy practices. To exercise these rights, email contact@protectmydigital.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” You may also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, where applicable, with your provincial/territorial privacy commissioner (e.g., AB, BC, QC).

Children’s privacy

Our Site is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most recent version is indicated by the effective date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect signifies acceptance of the updated policy.
